state of calamity
UNDER PRIVILEGED SPEECH
http://sanggunian.blogspot.com/2007/08/2007-r-113-declaring-state-of-calamity.html
This representation wishes to state full agreement in the importance of a team building activity, its just that, it must have been done in a more appropriate time.
. . if not by tradition . . . their next-in-line presumes the responsibility. Officers and staff of the Sanggunian left and even the representative of 1st district of Zambales is off on junket!!! This is unprecedented!!! Specially so that we have just declared that we are in a a state of calamity!!!
Salamat sa Diyos at hindi nagkaroon ng problema, because had there been an emergency situation and we are not around . . . then we will have a lot of explaining to do . . . could actually be a ground for an administrative case.
I take the trust and confidence bestowed by our people . . . and our work as leaders of this community . . . very very seriously.
Our actions should complement the pronouncements we gave thru resolutions and ordinances.
When we "DIRECT our people to mobilize and channel ALL EFFORTS and resources to undertake rescue, relief and rehabilitation operations to mitigate further effects of the calamity to save lives and property" (as we have declared in Resolution Number 113) . . . . Our people expect that these pronouncement is accompanied by concrete actions . .
Welcome home.

They have just started their first regular session, but already, at least 20 members of the House of Representatives have gone abroad on junkets.
The jet-setting group is a mix of old members and neophytes who had the first taste of the travel privileges of members of Congress. The lawmakers travel business class and receive a minimum of $300 per diem, courtesy of taxpayers.
Those who were on official mission abroad were Representatives Roque Ablan Jr. of Ilocos Norte, Maria Milagros Magsaysay of Zambales;Thelma Almario of Davao Oriental, Antonio Cuenco of Cebu City, Vincent Garcia of Davao City, Nur Jaafar of Tawi-Tawi, Lorna Silverio, Reylina Nicolas and Pedro Pancho, all of Bulacan; Victor Francisco Ortega of La Union, Lorenzo Tañada III of Quezon, Eduardo Zialcita of Parañaque, and Sharee Ann Tan of Western Samar, the youngest member of the House and a neophyte
