Smith's version of the story...that he had consensual sex with the victim would have been plausible had he left Nicole on the pavement (since it was pretty obvious she was too weak to dress herself) at least fully clothed.I think even the cruelest of man would have bothered to dress his "bitch" up after enjoying her company if it had been consensual...

I was of the impression that the Marines simply considers their Filipino hosts as low-lives. They can simply leave the girl in the van and walk 50 yards into their waiting ship, but they think of themselves as the super superior beings that they thought of the girl as pure shit - - - that has to be dumped before they enter the secured area of the wharf. - - - It so happens that God was in the van and called the attention of people in the vicinity to punish the abusive white man. Praise God!

We could also presume that the marines - - - in the subic rape case --- thought of doing that - - - i mean to just leave the girl in the van and walk-away (appears to be the most logical thing to do right? - - - but then again the "white-boys" may have been thinking illogically since they know that they have done something terribly wrong) - - - - but - - - this time i am really speculating here - - - God made the van driver Timoteo Soriano nervous and injected enough courage to tell the marines that he will have to report to the authorities if they leave the body. That is when the marines did the "dumping" and the rest is history. . . .

Hello Lily
I concur with you. It was sad that the Navy and Marines left the PI so many years ago. Same can be said of Clark. During the Vietnam war having the bases available for the poor men who were seriously wounded and/or nearly killed was very important. I had friends who were sent there and their lives were saved ....
ps. My dad worked at Sandly Point Cavite before WWII. My mom was married to a US army pilot at the time as well and she lived in Perinyaki... My parents loved the Filipino/Filipina people and did so their entire lives. My dad owed his life to them. the PI guerrilas would sneak him food when he was at Santo Tomas and later Los Banos.
anyway, yes, it is obsene for anyone to treat the ladies of the PI with no respect. They are incredibly beautiful, sexy with tremendous personality and full of fun. When i worked for the Navy as a civilian many years ago i would talk to the Sailors and they would praise the beautiful PI and the ladies that lived there. I visited for the first time a few mos ago and found it true. i would love to buy a condo in Subic... or Perinyaki..
take care
